Clackamas County Recorder's New Four-Day Work Week May Affect Your Lien Rights
Keeping in mind that Oregon construction liens must be filed within 75 days of substantial completion or last day on the job, the Clackamas County Recorder's new office hours may reduce lien filing deadlines by at least one day. If you engage in construction activities within Clackamas County, the recorder's new office hours could materially affect your ability to perfect a construction lien. To avoid losing your rights, do not wait until the last possible opportunity to file a construction lien you may end up being a day late. Consult with an attorney as soon as concerns about payment arise. A construction lien is a very powerful tool for collecting your bills. All care should be taken to ensure your lien rights are not lost. Published October 16, 2008 This article is intended to inform the reader of general legal principles applicable to the subject area. Effective November 3, 2008, you will be unable to record liens in Clackamas County on Fridays. On November 3, the Clackamas County Recorder's Office will institute a four-day work week and change its hours of operation. The office will be open 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Mondays, and 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Although office hours will be extended to 6:00 p.m., the Clackamas County Recorder's Office will only record documents until 5:30 p.m. The office will be closed on Fridays. This change in office hours must now be factored into the timeline for calculating construction lien filing deadlines.
