Municipal Stormwater Permit & Manual Modifications

GO BACK

The Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) announced August 6, 2014, it’s  modifications to the Phase I and Phase II Municipal Stormwater Permit and Stormwater Management Manual for Western Washington (SWWMM).  These modifications resulted in part from challenges raised by Phase I and Phase II permittees and the Building Industry Association of Clark County.

A summary of the modifications can be found here.

Ecology will be accepting written comments on the changes until midnight on October 6, 2014.  A series of public  hearings and workshops will also take place, including the following:

Hearings:

September 24, 2014 1:00 p.m-3:00 p.m – Water Resource Education Center, 4600 SE Columbia Way, Vancouver, WA

October 1, 2014 1:00 p.m -4:00 p.m– Edmonds Conference Center, 201 Fourth Avenue North, Edmonds, WA

Workshop Only:

September 26, 2014, 10 a.m-12:00 p.m – Department of Ecology, 300 Desmond Drive, Lacey, WA

Ecology will issue the modified permits and a response to comments after the comment period closes. Ecology expects to issue the modified permits in December 2014. The permits will be effective 30 days later. Ecology will send a copy of the notice of issuance and Ecology’s responses to the comments to all persons who submitted written comment or gave oral testimony at the public hearings.

We will address some of the specific modifications in later blog posts after reviewing the materials.
