Staff Accountant - Portland, OR
Jordan Ramis PC, a regional law firm with offices in downtown Portland and Bend, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington, is a team of professionals committed to exceptional client service. The Firm is seeking an experienced and dedicated Staff Accountant based out of the Firm’s headquarters office in Portland, Oregon. The Staff Accountant works under the supervision of the Controller to provide support in carrying out a wide range of duties and responsibilities of the Finance and Accounting Department. This position maintains accurate records of accounts payables, accounts receivable, client trust accounts, and general ledger.
Essential Duties:
- Manages full cycle accounts payable
- Assists with general ledger entries and month-end close process
- Manages Firm credit card accounts and performs monthly reconciliation of receipts
- Assists with year-end tax preparation and 1099 forms
- Reconciles bank statements and reports discrepancies
- Assists colleagues, vendors, and clients by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services
- Reviews procedures and submits recommendations for improving the Firm’s accounting operations
- Coverage and back up to Accounts Receivable Coordinator and Payroll Coordinator
- Assists with various research and/or special projects
- Other duties as assigned
- Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation
Required Qualifications:
- Strong communication, analytical problem-solving, and ability to thrive in a fast paced, changing environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and private information
- Experience with A/P, A/R and G/L accounting and reporting
- 5+ years recent and relevant accounting experience- (3+ years Law Firm experience preferred but not required)
- Attention to detail and ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in accounting software- (LSS experience preferred but not required)
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance
