The awards honor government, in-house and sole practitioners; attorneys with law firms; and judicial law clerks who have exhibited an outstanding commitment to both the legal profession and the community. Only legal professionals admitted to the Oregon State Bar within the past 10 years were eligible.
This year’s honorees include: Elaine Albrich of Stoel Rives LLP; Michelle Barton Smigel of Miller Nash LLP; Derily Hue Bechthold of Standard Insurance; James Bruce of Kell Alterman & Runstein LLP; Jason Busch, executive director of Oregon Wave Energy Trust; David Eder, assistant city attorney for the city of Beaverton; Sean Gay of Stoel Rives LLP; Michael J. Gelardi of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP; Cody B. Hoesly of Larkins Vacura LLP; Craig L. Leis of Littler Mendelson PC; Naomi Levelle-Haslitt of Miller Nash LLP; Parna Mehrbani of Lane Powell PC; Bradford F. Miller of Stahancyk, Kent & Hook PC; Stacy R. The Unsung Heroes finalists include Cathryn E. Bowie, state law librarian at the State of Oregon Law Library; Jenae Burbank, director of human resources at Miller Nash LLP; Erick W. Hoffman, director of communications at the University of Oregon School of Law; Traci Ray, director of marketing, client services and events at Barran Liebman LLP; Dardanel E. Robinson, a paralegal at Cosgrave Vergeer Kester LLP; and Ryan Schlunz, chief information officer at Stoel Rives.
The 20 honorees, including one selected by a panel of judges as the Up & Coming Lawyer of the Year, will be featured in the DJC Up & Coming Lawyers magazine, which will be published Nov. 8. The magazine also will feature the 2012 Unsung Legal Hero of the Year.
