The Jordan Ramis staff might not have construction experience (although some actually do!), but that wasn't going to stop us from helping rebuild a home. Thanks to Habitat for Humanity, we were able to gather our friends and colleagues for a day of team building and home building.
For our team builder day, we partnered up with one of the local chapters: Habitat for Humanity Willamette West. This organization is dedicated to building homes, communities, and hope; and believing that everyone deserves a decent and affordable home. Homes are built through the help of volunteers who see the need to eliminate substandard housing for struggling families where homeownership is simply unattainable. This very important programs relies almost completely on its volunteers’ time and energy, corporate grants and donations, individual donations, and donated building materials.
Habitat for Humanity coordinates building days that could consist of any part of building a house from pouring foundation to painting the trim. During the Jordan Ramis building day, we worked on a veteran-owned house that was already built, but in desperate need of critical updates. In particular, we put up siding, painted siding, rebuilt the end of the front deck, cleaned up materials, laid bark dust, and a few other tasks. Even though many did not have construction experience, Habitat for Humanity has a designated group of experienced volunteers to lead each project.
Special thanks to our friends and colleagues who joined us from General Sheet Metal, Affinity Property Management LLC, Pavilion Construction, and Western Partitions Inc. It was a very enjoyable and rewarding day. We are looking forward to our next project with Habitat for Humanity.
