OVERVIEW
Joseph is a litigator with a broad litigation-based practice that focuses on business and commercial disputes. Joseph represents litigation clients in disputes in numerous fields of law, including business and contractual disputes, real estate and environmental litigation, commercial litigation, and insurance coverage disputes. He engages in all aspects of litigation, including pre-litigation disputes, state and federal litigation, and appellate litigation. Joseph is also well versed in private arbitrations, mediations, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. No matter what stage of the litigation process, Joseph always keeps an eye toward the best outcome for his clients and works to find the effective and efficient solutions.
Before joining Jordan Ramis, Joseph gained substantial litigation experience working at a large litigation-focused firm in Portland, and later a regional boutique firm that specialized in representation of financial institutions and loan servicers in federal and state court. He is skilled in pretrial discovery and depositions. In addition, Joseph has obtained victory in dispositive motions for his clients in numerous cases, including those involving product liability, state securities law, the Stored Wire Communications Act, negligence, and premises liability. Joseph uses his experience to deliver excellent results for his clients through negotiations, alternative dispute resolution, arbitrations, and trials.
Joseph served as a law clerk to the Honorable Anna J. Brown in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. While in law school, he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Justice Rives Kistler of the Oregon Supreme Court and the Honorable Jack Bullins of Lane County Circuit Court in Eugene. Joseph was also an editor of the Oregon Law Review.
When not practicing law, Joseph enjoys photographing those rare occasions when the Moon passes in front of the Sun, college football, exercising (though not as much as is optimal), and spending time with his wife and children, often while preparing family dinner on his smoker or grill.
