Sarah Carlson

Law Clerk

Sarah Carlson

OVERVIEW

Sarah Carlson is a law clerk at Jordan Ramis and currently completing her Juris Doctor at Lewis & Clark Law School. Her work focuses on supporting attorneys and clients across practice areas, including land use, development, business, and corporate governance.

Sarah brings a practical, detail-oriented approach to her work, grounded in both academic training and prior professional experience. Before law school, she worked as a nonprofit drafting specialist and practice assistant, where she supported complex client matters ranging from the administration of multi-million-dollar charitable trusts to nationwide corporate registration compliance.

During law school, Sarah has focused her studies and practical experience on energy, land use, natural resources, business, and administrative law. As a law clerk with NewSun Energy, she deepened her understanding of energy regulation and project permitting by conducting research, drafting memoranda, and contributing to internal legal strategy in support of utility-scale solar development.

Sarah also serves as Executive Editor of the Lewis & Clark Law Review, where she helps manage editing workflows and ensures the accuracy and quality of published scholarship. She enjoys the behind-the-scenes work of legal writing and takes pride in producing clear, well-structured analysis.

Passionate about equity, inclusion, and community engagement, Sarah has supported DE&I initiatives throughout her professional career. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest by hiking, swimming, or discovering new corners of Portland’s expansive food and wine scene. She is an avid (and opinionated) coffee enthusiast and is always ready with a recommendation for a great cup anywhere in the city. She also plays recreational softball and values opportunities to build community both in and outside of the legal profession.
